Tour of Duty: Silent Sunset 3: July 24-25 2010
CLICK ON THE 2010 OPERATIONS BANNER TO ENLIST IN SILENT SUNSET
HMSG and Airsoft International bring the award winning Tour of Duty series to the United States. It's late 1969 and the Tet Offensive is but a distant memory. What's changed however is that there are no more Viet Cong, only the North Vietnamese Army roams the jungles and fields of South Vietnam - despite all denials by the North government. Contacts in the field have been getting fiercer and more prolonged with no let-up in sight. Elements of the 101st Airborne will stage extended operations out of Firebase Toledo into enemy territory and take the fight to the NVA.
TOD: Silent Sunset III will immerse you in the sights, sounds, and combat of the Vietnam War. Play as an NVA/VC Soldier/Sapper or USGI/Marine/LRRP/SF. If you attended the first LIBC, SNAFU, In-Country, Silent Sunset or Recondo School then you know what to expect - only better. HMSG events are designed to make you feel like you were there. You will operate within a squad under a chain of command. Squad members will have individual functions (e.g., automatic weapons, rifleman, radio operator, squad leader). Your leaders will be selected from among Recondo and Sapper school graduates and will guide your growth from cherry to grizzled vet. NVA/VC expect a larger role and bigger and better experience that will rival the US side.
This event also plans to incorporate a dual AO arrangement. US forces will stage out of Firebase Toledo at the HMSG Lanexa, VA AO. Missions will be staged via vehicle insertions into a new alternate AO located elsewhere nearby in Lanexa, VA. Radio communications will be absolutely vital to maintain with the TOC, as insertions and extracts must be entirely coordinated out in the field depending on the developing situation. The 101st will literally be taking the fight to the NVA, in their own backyard... but that does not mean all's quiet around FSB Toledo.
Location: Lanexa, VA AO. View AO details and pictures.
